Is Black the New Black?

Ipod_nano_in_black_1 Shiny silver, the color story in the tech world for the last decade was officially dethroned at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show and chic glossy black begins its reign.  Black was seen everywhere framing high-definition television screens, housing audio components and encasing cell phones.  While black has been used for as long as there have been electronics products this year the color coined "piano black" is high gloss and befitting of high tech.

Combining the latest technology with the hottest color can be a recipe for sure success
as seen when sales of the slick ebony  iPod nano soared.   Was Apple onto the trend early or was the choice one based on the knowledge that black is perceived as sleek and slimming offering a perfect compliment to a primary attribute of their product?

The new black has a sense of class, a feeling of luxury and although black’s popularity will rise and fall as the trends change black never really goes out of style.
