Pastel pink bats? MLB players wearing
pink wristbands? The lineups written on pink
cards? Have the boys of baseball decided to find their softer side?
I think not! So what's behind all the pink? Major League Baseball is putting on the pink to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation during a weeklong fundraising campaign that ties into Mother's Day.
My former collegue from Reebok Howard Smith, now senior vice president for licensing for MLB, was quoted as saying that the idea for the pink bats struck a chord with commissioner Bud Selig and other executives.
The idea of pink bats also seems to have struck a chord with the players since more than 50 have stepped up to the plate and ordered bats that will be autographed and auctioned off along with the other pink memorabilia to benefit this worthy cause. Thanks guys!
